Design of an adaptive filter to cancel feedback noise in a public address system, 1998

Abstract

The design of an adaptive filter to remove feedback noise from a public address system was attempted. The ADSP-2111 digital signal processor chip was used to implement this filter. The least mean squares adaptation algorithm was implemented in the software. Programs were developed to both pass an unmodified signal and to filter the signal for the removal of the noise. Possible reasons for the failure of this project to achieve its objective are given in the conclusion.

Error detection and correction in digital data communication, 1972

 Item — Multiple Containers
Identifier: b2088519
Abstract This thesis develops different types of circuits which can be implemented to provide a method to detect and correct errors in digital data on a T1 type communication line. The characteristics of the T1 communication line and the signal sent on the line are described. Errors in the transmitted signal can occur on this line and the types and sources of these errors are discussed. The following are described and discussed in detail: 1) The...

Field Programmable Gate Arrays and their applications to digital signal processing, 1998

Identifier: b2194801
Abstract Application such as data communications and signal processing require extensive processing power, but when the DSP processing power is not sufficient, the only alternatives have been to add multiple DSP processors or use custom gate arrays. Multiple processor solutions are expensive, require many components, consume too much power and the solution does not always provide the performance needed to differentiate products. Custom gate array solutions deliver the performance but sacrifice...

Jitter analysis of data waveforms, 2002

Item — Call number MU Thesis McG
Identifier: b2089048
Abstract Jitter is the deviation of a signal's transitions from ideal time positions. Excess jitter is undesireable in a communication system, as it can lead to increased bit error rate and degraded signal quality. This paper begins with an overview of the present state-of-the-art with respect to jitter analysis of data waveforms: The main characteristics of jitter are described, and corresonding measurement techniques are discussed. Waveform capture using both real-time and equivalent time...

Using field programmable gate arrays in digital signal processing application, 2000

Identifier: b2194830
Abstract Todays, [sic] expanded demand for digital signal processors (DSPs) require them to perform at higher and higher data rates. Many of the existing commercial available general purpose DSPs with their generic mulitply and add structure do not adequately meet this high data rate signal processing requirement. However, recent advances in higher density and faster field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) have shown that, as configurable digital signal processing...
