Abstract

The capstone project aimed to determine whether there was a heightened comprehension of OT among hospital staff following educational training sessions, all with the aim of enhancing care at Da Nang Psychiatric Hospital. Through qualitative inquiry, the project assessed staff understanding and attitudes toward occupational therapy, comparing perceptions between Da Nang Psychiatric Hospital and Da Nang Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Hospital. The methods included case and cross-case analysis, educational training, and intervention strategies supported by ethical considerations and convenient sampling. Data collection involved validated questionnaires and reflective practices, culminating in thematic analysis to identify trends and insights. The findings highlighted improved understanding of OT concepts, goals, and treatment methods post-training. Recommendations included recorded Zoom sessions, increased student placements, and questionnaire revisions. Emphasizing cultural humility in OT education for effective service delivery, the project contributes to evidence-based practice and professional growth in Vietnam's psychiatric hospital setting, fostering a more informed healthcare environment.

Keywords: Da Nang Psychiatric Hospital, occupational therapy, educational training.
