Abstract
This project builds upon the Viterbi encoding/decoding project from EE517 and the code division multiple access (CDMA) project from EE518 to model end-to-end digital communications. A C++ project was developed that lets the user select a 32 by 32 pixel window of a color bitmap for transmission. The selected pixels are digitized, and the user can choose to encrypt, encode, interleave, and modulate the bits. The user can select the bit error rate (BER), or choose burst errors, which will...

Abstract
Code division multiple access (CDMA) is a "spread spectrum" technology, which means that it spreads the information contained in a particular signal of interest over a much greater bandwidth than the original signal. In a CDMA spread spectrum system, simultaneous reception of multiple signals is possible through the use of orthogonal codes. This significantly increases the system performance in addition to providing security for the user data.
The objective of this...

Abstract
Ideally, wireless handset users should be able to use their handsets to communicate anywhere within the designated service areas without fear of dropping call. In reality however, calls do get dropped and are getting increasingly more so from strong radio frequency (RF) interference due to heavy deployment of cellular systems. The ability of the handset receiver to select among many other signals, no matter how minute they are and reject all other unwanted strong signals is what this...
