Abstract
As individuals age, they may experience limitations in their capacity to engage in meaningful physical activities regardless of their desire to do so. For much of the older adult population golf could be identified as a meaningful occupation (Stenner et al., 2020). This project used qualitative design to investigate the lived experiences of occupational and physical therapy practitioners who have used golf as a meaningful occupation to improve participation in a treatment session with the older adult population. The analysis of data into themes supported the hypothesis that integrating golf into therapy sessions would yield positive outcomes through the uncovered experiences reported by practitioners. The findings of this project help dictate the narratives of occupational and physical therapy practitioners’ experiences when incorporating golf into therapeutic practice to promote participation and enhance overall well-being with the older adult population. This project serves as a foundational step towards bridging the gap between occupational therapy, meaningful occupation, and golf.
