Abstract

This qualitative study contributes to the understanding of the unique role of student support programs (e.g., the Educational Opportunity Fund Program, first-generation targeted programs) for Black and Latinx first-generation college students attending predominantly White institutions as they work toward degree attainment. The purpose of this study was to examine student perceptions of such support programs to discern the ways in which these programs aid in the success of Black and Latinx first-generation college students at predominantly White institutions. Narrative inquiry was used as the study design.
