Peter "Pete" Tomaini, 74, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH after a sudden illness. Mr. Tomaini was born on Nov. 8, 1937 in Long Branch, NJ, the son of Hugo Pietro and Margaret "Helen" (Leddy) Tomaini. He was a resident of Bedford, NH for the past 21 years, and a former longtime resident of Derry, NH. A graduate of Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ, Mr. Tomaini was employed as an engineer for AT&T/Lucent Technologies prior to his retirement. Pete was an avid outdoorsman and an accomplished trap shooter (past president of the NH Trap Shooters Association), winning numerous awards throughout the country. He was a member of the Pelham Fish & Game Club and the Methuen Rod & Gun Club. His hobbies and interests included hunting, fishing and camping. Mr. Tomaini and his wife, Nancy, wintered in The Villages, Florida.
Members of his family, in addition to his father in Lakewood, include his wife, Nancy (Van Uden) Tomaini of Bedford; his four daughters, Karyn Dietrich and her husband Dave of Gilford, NH, Elizabeth Veilleux and her husband Joe of Goffstown, NH, Jill Conway and her husband Brian of Green Brook, and Susan Tomaini and her fiancee Doug of San Francisco, CA; seven grandchildren, Nathan, Catie, Emilie, Molly, Sean, Sarah, and Brenna; one brother, James Tomaini and his wife Becky of Mill Hall, PA; and six nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former wife, Barbara McKenzie of Derry, NH.
A memorial gathering was held on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, Manchester, NH. A memorial mass was celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Bedford, NH.
