Alfred Roberts, 72, headed drug firm
OAKHURST - Alfred Roberts, 72, of 3 Greenbriar Road, chairman of the board and founder of Roberts Proprieties, a drug and cosmetic company in New York City, died yesterday at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York City.
Mr. Roberts was one of the original founders and directors of Monmouth park Jockey Club, Oceanport.
He was an Army veteran of World War I, and had served as chairman of the drug division of the United Jewish Appeal, National Chapter.
A 1927 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Roberts was also a graduate of Harvard Law School.
He was a member of the Hollywood Golf Club, West Deal, the Harmonie Club and the Cavendish Club, both New York.
His first wife, Mrs. Betty Block Roberts, died in 1963. A pavilion at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, is dedicated to her memory.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Monmouth County since 1930.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Margery Roberts; three sons, William B. Roberts, here, Keith B and John P. Roerts [sic], both of New York City; three daughters, Miss Kimberly Jane Roberts of New York City, Mrs. Kathy deRoquefort of Madrid, Spain, and Miss Patti Roberts, at home; three brothers, Manny Roberts of New York City, Julius Roberts of Miami Beach, Fla. and Stanley Roberts of Great Neck, LI.; a sister, Mrs. Muriel Brimm of New York City, and seven grandchildren.
The Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home, New York City, is in charge of arrangements.
