LUIGI BALDI, MD WEST LONG BRANCH

Luigi Baldi, MD, 80, of West Long Branch, died Sunday, May 31, 2009, at home. Dr. Baldi graduated Cum Laude from Rome University, Rome, Italy, in 1953. He came to the United States in 1954 and began his medical practice after post graduate training in New York City. In 1964, Dr. Baldi moved to New Jersey and started what would become a 40 year practice in Cardiology at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Dr. Baldi always believed that the art of medicine was a trust worthy and close relationship between physician and patient. Throughout his career, he touched the lives of hundreds. He was a member of the American Medical Association and a parishioner of St. Jerome Roman Catholic Church, West Long Branch.

He was predeceased by his brother, Ferdinando Baldi in 2007. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Martha Livingston Baldi; two daughters and a son-in-law, Gina Baldi of Toms River, Dr. Daniela Baldi and her husband, Ronald Weinstein of Oakhurst; a son and daughter-in-law, Eduardo and Julie Baldi of Baltimore, Md.; a sister, Matilda Trabalaza of Rome, Italy; and three grandchildren, Gabriela, Elena and Giacomo.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 3 at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave. (corner of Third Ave.), Long Branch. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 4 at the funeral home, followed by an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jerome R.C. Church, West Long Branch. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Middletown.
