Abstract

This memoir encompasses Clark’s experiences as a transgender man with an evangelical upbringing. Spanning from his early childhood through his first year out of high school, Clark explores generational and religious trauma, as well as familial, platonic, and romantic relationships.

Abstract Songs to Sick Blood is a poetry collection that explores one family's experience of illness, loss, and rupture. These poems chronicle grief in its many forms: loss of a loved one, loss of wellness, loss of self, and loss of comfort. The poems' speakers look honestly and unflinchingly at their experiences to attempt to make sense of life's ebbs and flows in health, family, and happieness. Abstract

This cross-genre memoir is a collection of Clark's reflections on growing up in a conservative community as a black Transgender man, and his experiences with grief and love. The Wreckage of Spring is meant to bring awareness to generational and religious trauma, its lasting effects over the course of a lifetime, and the act of confronting and healing from it.
