ROBERT "BOB" KISLIN, 84, of Palm Beach Garden, Fla., died Thursday, May 17, at Palm Beach Garden Medical Center-Hospice. He was born in New Brunswick to Leon and Fanny Kislin, and was raised in Red Bank. He graduated from Red Bank High School Class of 1940. After attending Rutgers University, he entered the Army Air Corps during World War II. After marrying Ruth Katsin in 1945, he opened Bob Kislin's Sporting Goods in Asbury Park. He opened future stores in Ocean Township, Toms River, and Pleasantville in the 1970s. The remaining store in Toms River is run by his son, Ronald. He was a member of Temple Beth El in Asbury Park and Oakhurst since 1948, he was director to the National Sporting Goods Association from 1978 to 1986 and received the sporting goods Spynx Retailer of the Year in 1986, and he was involved in many clubs and organizations in the Shore area. Mr. Kislin was a resident of Deal for many years and was currently a resident of Eastpointe Country Club in Palm Beach Garden, Fla. He loved to fish the water holes, ball hawk and play golf.
He was predeceased by his parents; and a son, Rodger, who died in 1980. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Ruth; a son, Ronald and his wife Ita; a daughter, Robyn and her husband Michael Baltor; four grandchildren, Michael and his wife Jennifer Kislin, Jason and his wife Carrie Kislin, and Chandler and Carsyn Baltor; and two great-grandchildren, Braden and Devon.
Chapel services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday from the Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Highway 35, Ocean Township. Interment will be in Temple Beth El Cemetery, Neptune. In lieu of flowers, donations to any local hospice, would be appreciated. Shiva will be observed at the Kislin residence in Ocean Township on Sunday night, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
(2) Ruth Kislin

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL
Ruth Kislin, 85, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, died Friday at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, New Jersey. Ruth was born in Spring Lake, NJ on October 19, 1924 to Bernard and Henrietta Katsin. Ruth lived most of her life in the shore area and graduated from Red Bank High School. After high school, Ruth attended Traphagan School of Design and Rutgers University School of Pharmacy. Ruth excelled at sculpture and design. During World War II Ruth worked in the Signal Corps at Fort Monmouth in NJ. In 1945, Ruth married Robert Kislin, to whom she was totally devoted until his passing in 2007. In 1946, Ruth and Robert, opened Bob Kislin's Sporting Goods in Asbury Park, NJ. Ruth was an integral part of the store for many years. Together, Ruth and Robert raised three children in Deal, NJ, Ronald, Robyn and Rodger. After living in Deal for many years, Ruth and Robert moved to Monmouth Beach, but found their real home on a golf course at Eastpointe Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Fl. Ruth and Robert enjoyed their retirement in Florida for the past 20 years. Ruth and Robert were members of Temple Beth El in Oakhurst, NJ.
Ruth is predeceased by her son Rodger who died in 1980, her husband Robert who died in 2007 and her brother Charles Katsin who died in May of 2010. She is survived by her sister, Phyllis and her husband Marvin Rosen, her son Ronald and his wife Ita of Ocean, her daughter, Robyn and her husband Michael Balter of Livingston, her grandchildren, Michael and Jason Kislin and Chandler and Carsyn Balter, and her great-grandchildren, Braden, Devon, Zane and Jana Kislin.
Services will be held Sunday at 11:00 at the Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Highway #35, Ocean Township. Shiva will be observed at the Kislin residence in Ocean Township through Wednesday, July 28, 2010. In lieu of flowers, donations to Meridian Hospice or the Oakhurst First-Aid Squad would be appreciated.
